How do you fix your WordPress website when one of the plunging downed your site?

Ok, yesterday, a plugin of mine had a big, fantastic update, and I made the mistake of updating it on a running commercial site…

The site was down, and I wasn’t able to log back into my WordPress dashboard

The first rule is never to create a staging environment for your site and do whatever you want there.

But if you are here, you have already done it, so the fix is easy!

The solution is to deactivate the plunging from your hosting account by changing its name!

Enter your hosting account navigate into your c-panel, and then into the file manager,

Locate the plugin within the wp-content/plugins folder.

and change its name, for example, “plugging-name”2

and then you will be able to re-enter your WordPress dashboard

you can deactivate the plunging and even delete it, or

You can try to upload a previous version of the plunging if you want to keep using it.
